THE COMMUNITY MOBILIZATION TEAM (OR THE CMT)

The Community Mobilization Team (i.e. which functions similar to but different from a Steering Committee) supports the work of the CST Facilitators with people/families in the local community. The CMT is made up of people who are “community connectors”. These people are community leaders, representatives from informal community support agencies/groups such as recreation, faith, business, service clubs, as well as representatives of the formal family services in the community. The important role they play is to help the people/families served through the local initiative to get connected to the support people and in kind resources they require to have their needs addressed on a daily basis. The Chair of the CMT is often a locally recognized champion for people/families. Sponsoring agencies take care of all the programmatic and administrative aspects of the delivery of CST in each community.

The purpose of the CMT is as follows:

    • To educate the local community about this initiative and mobilize the community and its resources and volunteers

    • To support the work of the Facilitators by connecting the people/families served to the resources and volunteers they require to meet their needs on a daily basis
